Amelia Island offers some unexpected, highly inspired backdrops for yogis from absolute beginners to power practitioners. Here are six perfect places.

On Board
Leave your mat on the shore and hop onto a stand-up paddle board (SUP) for a floating class led by Amelia Island’s original and only certified SUP yoga instructor, Deb Cunningham. No experience on a paddleboard or in yoga is required, and taking a dip while challenging your balance is encouraged. Savasana while soaking in the sun and hearing the peaceful waters lap against your board is the ultimate in relaxation. Schedule your place in a class with Kayak Amelia.

In a treehouse
One of Amelia Island’s best kept secrets is nestled in live oaks and Spanish moss within the zen-like Spa Treehouse at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort. Feel a world away as you cross over the footbridge and ascend the stairs to the open-air studio overlooking a tranquility pond.  Classes are held Saturdays at 10am for up to 8. Reserve your spot by calling (904) 261-6161.

Beachside
Find your drishti on the horizon when you practice yoga along our Atlantic waters. Go Yoga offers yoga on the Ocean Club porch, leaving you refreshed by gentle breezes without the sandy mat. Guests at The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island and the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort can join in oceanfront yoga classes at their respective locations.

In a dome
The Dome Healing Center offers meditation and yoga classes taught by certified Amrit instructors in a healing environment. The property features a quarter-acre nature pond. Good karma abounds here.

By candlelight

Centred on Yoga draws in local island yogis like moths to a flame...by candleight, that is. In additional to heated power yoga and challenging technical classes, the studio provides Restorative Candlelight yoga for those who seek peaceful relaxation in their practice. Ommmmm.

At the local Y
Visiting YMCA members can pay a small fee to attend yoga classes at the McArthur YMCA, which offers a range of classes from gentle yoga (perfect for pregnant mothers or achy joints) to power yoga. This location offers childcare so that little ones can play as parents get their workout.

We wish you well in your practice on Amelia Island. Namaste.
