Petanque America Open
The second-ever open International Petanque Tournment will be held November 14 - 15 along the waterfront in downtown Fernandina Beach.
An estimated 80 teams from 25 states and throughout Canada and Europe will compete for prizes worth $5,000.
Participants will include men and women, beginners and champions.
2000 World Champion and 2009 European Champion, Claudy Weibel, will be competing.
On Sunday, November 15 from 1:00 to 3:00pm, celebrity TV chef, Jacques Pepin, will be available for book signing.
The public is welcome and Petanque America will provide free use of equipment for visitors who want to learn about the game.
Petanque is one of Europe's most popular outdoor games, and a cousin to horseshoes and the Italian bowling game, Bocce Ball.
