Tucked somewhere in between the time change and taxes is spring. Glorious springtime. It sneaks in like a secret gift bringing us out of our winter doldrums and into happiness. It’s the beginning of outdoor festivals, concerts, beachgoing, and new adventures. Amelia Island is ready. Are you? Trade those heavy winter layers for sunglasses and flip flops… it’s springtime on Amelia y’all and we’ve got 5 great reasons to come for a visit.
There is nothing prettier or more awe-inspiring than this small barrier island in the springtime. White, purple, and pink azaleas dot the landscapes, dormant trees begin to bud, and marsh grasses turn from coppery brown to a beautiful vivid green right before our very eyes. The Eastern Redbud produces masses of small pink pea-like flowers in the early spring while the southern magnolia will begin it’s sweet fragrant bloom in May. To see the arrival of spring up close and personal, a visit to Egan’s Creek Greenway is in order. This protected 300-acre strip of land running north to south along Amelia Island’s Egans Creek will show you marsh vistas, wildlife and flora & fauna like you’ve never seen before. Hike it or bike it. Just make sure you photograph it.

It’s been a harsh winter. Have you been dreaming of the beach? We hear you. There’s just something about the sound of the surf and the salty air that puts all of life’s worries on a brief pause. That’s why spring is the perfect time to plan that Amelia Island getaway you’ve so desperately needed. Schools are still in session which means that the summer crowds haven’t gotten here yet. Which means there are countless places to unfold your chair, get a book out and soak up some much-needed vitamin D. Which means peace and quiet away from the chaos of every day life. Ahhh. Whether north, south, or central island there are endless public beach accesses to find your favorite spot of sand … and with fewer folks to share it with.

The definition of Adventure according to Merriam-Webster is “An exciting or remarkable experience”. The beauty of a vacation on Amelia Island is that your adventure can be as big or small as you want it to be. Whatever you deem exciting. It could be a guided horseback ride along the Atlantic seashore, a beach yoga session to leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed, or to scoot about the island in a new Acrimotor vehicle (FUV). Exploring the waters around the island has never been so fun as on a Craigcat boat from Backwater Cat Adventures for an adrenaline-pumping good time. Slow things down a bit, relax and feel the wind in your sails as Sail Amelia provides unforgettable memories on the water. Your adventure awaits.
