Often refered to as the “adult lunchable”, Charcuterie, pronounced “shahr-koo-tuh–ree”, is a French word describing a shop that sells cured pork products like salami and ham along with cheeses, olives, nuts, crackers, dried fruits and other condiments. Arrange all of these on a wooden board and you’ve got yourself a delicious meal. Pair it with your favorite wine or champagne for the ultimate win.
You can throw this yummy creation together on your own since there really is no wrong way to assemble a great meat and cheese board. Or, you can let the professionals do it for you…which gets our vote. Whether it’s bold and mild or sweet and savory, take your very own Amelia Island Charcuterie Tour by visiting these dining establishments where each offer their own spin on this festive board.
The Decantery is a super cool wine, craft beer and cocktail lounge located in historic downtown Fernandina Beach. Up your romance game at Burlingame where the made-from-scratch menu is small by design to focus on a handful of exquisite dishes each season. The folks at Burlingame realize that dining out is about more than just the food on the plate, it’s about the overall experience. For starters, try the Cheese & Charcuterie Board served with a seasonal selection of cheese & charcuterie, house made bread, compotes, and wildflower honeycomb.
Lagniappe is a Cajun French term meaning “a little something extra” and that’s just what you get when you order the Charcuterie & Cheese board. Using assorted artisan meats and cheeses, a mix of pickles, and accoutrements, this board can be a meal in itself. But, you’re going to want to order off the main menu also to try the traditions of French Creole mixed with unique southern culinary staples. It’s all good here.
Pogo’s Kitchen, located on the south end of the island, is a favorite with locals and visitors for it’s non-pretentious atmosphere and really good food. Specializing in delicious handmade southern cuisine, you can dine inside or outside on the patio for that summer Florida ambiance. Sip on a good bottle of wine and start out with a cheese charcuterie board adding local honeycomb, fruit jam, spiced pecans and bread.
Bar Zin is a fun, relaxed, upbeat indoor/outdoor bistro on the south end of Amelia Island with creative and fresh menu options. Start your dining experience off with a Charcuterie appetizer of artisan cured meats and cheeses, pickled vegetables, honeycomb, and mustard then work your way up from there. The Patio at 5th & Ash offers a Charcuterie for two with a special selection of premium cheeses with an array of meats, fruits, honey, and jam. Dine inside or outside on the patio under a canopy of majestic oaks draped with Spanish Moss and twinkling lights. The food here is as magical as the ambiance.
