Amelia Island is loaded (no pun intended) with eclectic places to partake in adult beverages. Everything from craft breweries and taverns to a distillery and a funky beer & wine garden named after a guy that wears pajamas all day. Nope, I’m not making that up.
Here is a list of pub crawl worthy establishments on the island and even over the bridge. These are all “stand alone” bars/taverns/breweries but we have many more restaurant/bars on the island. Check them all out!
Located in the heart of downtown Fernandina Beach is the Amelia Island Brewing Company, home to The Tavern and The Alley. The Tavern offers an industrial “restauranty” feel with a full menu of apps, salads, sweets, and entrees, while The Alley (right next door) is an awesome taproom with apps and light fare focused more on the beer. Neither will disappoint.
Looking for a great date night spot? First Love Brewing checks all the boxes. With over 20 rotating taps, First Love offers a mix of porters, IPA’s and ales that pair teriffically with their house-made artisan pizzas, wings or truffle fries. Dine/drink at the bar or grab a table indoors or outdoors for more privacy.
Mocama Beer Company is located near downtown Fernandina in an old 1950’s car dealership. To say the taproom is cool is an understatement. It’s a great place to hash out a business deal, vent to a friend or just enjoy a great beer in the form of a lager, porter, stout, pilsner, IPA, ale and more. If you don’t know what you like, order a flight and taste a few. Not a fan of beer? They have a great wine selection, too.
Make no mistake… the island isn’t the only place for pub crawling. There is a lot of fun to be had over the bridge. SJ Brewing Company was the first to show up followed by Disco Witch Brewing, The Brew Shed and Mocama Wildlight. Each offer delicious craft beers, trivia nights, wine selections, and good times. Start a Yulee Pub Crawl!
Did you know that Amelia Island has it’s own distillery? It would seem appropriate since we’re an island once inhabited by pirates. Marlin & Barrel is a craft distillery handcrafting a variety of rum, vodka, gin, cello and bourbon. Enjoy samples in the tasting room or visit their newly opened and connecting A1A Cidery for a one-stop destination of craft beer, ciders, and cocktails. It’s a good time – and we’re pretty sure the pirates would think so as well.
The island’s premier wine, craft beer and cocktail lounge… literally. Enjoy delicious wine on tap, desserts & charcuterie while lounging around on comfy couches in a historic building. The Decantery offers an exceptional rare and unique wine selection for those wine connoisseurs and can be enjoyed right in the lounge or to purchase and take with you. Stop in and pop a bottle!
For those who appreciate the finer things, the new Ash Street Cigar Parlor is a must-visit – offering a selection of fine cigars, handpicked wines, craft beers, and canned cocktails in a cozy, welcoming environment. Enjoy charcuteries and appetizers from neighboring businesses as you relax in one of their indoor smoking lounges, non-smoking rooms, or the spacious outdoor areas.
Popular with visitors and locals alike, the Green Turtle Tavern is friendly, laid back bar where you can sit alongside shrimp boat captains, tycoons, authors, hippies, pirates, chefs, the occasional celebrity and even dogs. This is the place to be for live entertainment on the weekends. Sip on a cold beer, wine or cocktail (they have one of the best bourbon selections on the island) and get your groove on at the Turtle.
The island’s most notable drink is the Pirate’s Punch which can be found at The Palace Saloon, the oldest bar in the state of Florida since 1903. This gorgeous bar still houses the original woodwork, tin ceilings, vintage murals and mosaic floors from days gone by and still gathers friends together to swap stories. It’s also supposedly haunted by the ghost of Uncle Charlie who has been seen imbibing on occasion.
PJD’s is an iconic downtown watering hole where the owner, Pajama Dave (because he only wears pajamas, duh), not only pours your drinks, but can also tell you all about the history of Amelia Island. PJD’s is a friendly indoor/outdoor bar with a huge variety of beers and wine. Live music on weekends.
The Lobby Bar is the premier gathering spot inside the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island where visitors can sip a signature Smoked Old Fashioned (a specialty) and selection of handcrafted drinks in a relaxed, yet refined ambiance. After all, it is The Ritz-Carlton. Light bites include some of the best, freshly-prepared, sushi and sashimi on the island and the ocean view is spectacular.
Let’s face it – being called to the Principal’s office was enough to illicit fear and angst in even the worst of students. However, this Principals’ Office is one you will look forward to. Located in the lobby of the historic Amelia Schoolhouse Inn, belly up to the Principal’s Office Bar and enjoy one of their many signature drinks. I hear the Principal’s Rita is worth going to the office for.
Located inside the Florida House Inn, the Mermaid Bar features local beers, boutique wines, and handcrafted cocktails… like their signature Mermaid Slap made with some juices, various rums, and a couple of other things thrown in. Yum!
Locals’ Cocktail Lounge is a casual neighborhood bar in the heart of Amelia Island where you can enjoy the best after work happy hour or an evening of island nightlife. Watch your favorite game, play some pool, do some dancing, or just enjoy friends on the spacious outdoor patio complete with two fireplaces.
Golf Pub Social is a new family-friendly spot ideal for group outings, date nights, game-watching, and hanging out with friends! Enjoy 3 golf bays equipped with Trackman Simulator technology, a full bar, lounge areas with TVs, plus an outdoor space featuring TVs, ping pong tables, and corn hole. This is going to be your new favorite place.
