Have you ever enjoyed a really good meal with no-so-great ambiance that made your dining experience just, meh. By the same token, have you ever had a so-so meal with outstanding views that made your dining experience really good? I think we can all say we’ve experienced both of these on more than one occasion. When dining out, you always want the food to be good, but I think a great dining experience should be about more than just the food. It should be a whole lotta “goods” – good food, good company, good staff, good views – to create the “perfect dining storm”, if you will. Here are 5 Amelia Island restaurants with epic views and really good food to boot. Your romantic island getaway just got that much better.
Located at the Amelia Island Marina, Kitchen 251 specializes in down home food with a cajun twist and offers up amazing waterfront views of the marsh and marina. Dine on local wild caught shrimp, Po’ Boys, or the always delicious Fried Green Tomato BLT on Texas Toast. All in an open-air atmosphere. Tues – Sat, 11am – 8pm.
Watch at photo-worthy sunset over the Fernandina Harbor from the second floor of The Salty Pelican in historic downtown Fernandina Beach. They feature fresh local seafood, buffalo wings, house made loaded potato spring rolls, Salty Pelican stuffed burgers, and a selection of craft beers and fresh cocktails. Live entertainment fills the air on the weekends. If you like oysters on the half shell, order them here! Daily, 11am – 11pm.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean while dining on Amelia Island’s most indulgent breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe. The “Morning Table” buffet will make sure you don’t leave hungry with choices of French toast, cold smoked salmon, eggs any way you want them, pecanwood smoked bacon and much more. You can dine in their spacious dining room, but for the best views, dine on the outdoor terrace. Daily, 7am – 11am.
Recognized with a AAA Five Diamond award, Salt, located at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island, is the crème de la crème in dining experiences. Oozing romance, the view overlooking the Atlantic ocean is just a hint of what’s to come. Smoked Key West Prawns, Beef Tenderloin with grilled mashed potatoes, and Cookie Butter Soufflé with Coffee Ice Cream & Grand Marnier Anglaise are just a sampling of the amazing fare. For the extra-special occasion, consider booking the Salt Chef’s Table Experience for breathtaking vistas of ocean and dunes. Wed – Sun, 5pm – 10pm.
Salt Life Food Shack is located directly across from the ocean and offers an eclectic menu with a wide variety of options including oysters on the half shell, fried seafood baskets, classic burgers, and authentic street tacos just to name a few. Wet your whistle with a frosty cold Salt Life beer or deliciously spicy orange jalapeno margarita. Make sure you ask to sit upstairs on the rooftop deck where the ocean views are nothing short of spectacular. Daily, 11am – 10pm.
