We love fall on Amelia Island — when the temps start to cool down just a bit and sweater weather eases in ever so slowly. Take a look at these fall events and then pack your bags. It’s time for an Autumn harvest of memory making!
August, September and October. Bring your lawn chairs and the family to the foot of Centre Street to enjoy a free concert held on the first Friday of the month. Classic rock, blues, oldies and more fill the waterfront area in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach during the Sounds on Centre series.
September. Held every September, the Amelia Island Dance Festival offers opportunities to learn from world-class artists and to experience performances showcasing talent from across the county as well as the finest instructors from local dance institutions of Northeast Florida.
September – October. Enjoy an unmatched foodie experience at Omni Amelia Island Resort as we welcome chefs from across the nation to compete in the ultimate cooking showdown. With sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful tree canopies as a backdrop, the Fish to Fork weekend offers an unforgettable experience, including true dock-to-dish specialties in a fun, interactive atmosphere. Event guests will see chefs present their best fishing and culinary skills, ultimately tested with a live vote.
September – October. Island Hop is a craft beer tasting of local and regional brewers featuring microbreweries of Nassau County including First Love Brewing, Amelia Island Brewing Company, Mocama Beer Company, Disco Witch Brewing, and SJ Brewing Company. It’s a family-friendly festival with music by Mandalla and The Honey Badgers, food trucks, a dog park, playground, and a Main Street Marketplace. Children under 12 admitted for free.
October. Currently in it’s second decade, the Amelia Island Jazz Festival provides a rich, diverse cultural offering to the Amelia Island area by exposing thousands of people of all ages and backgrounds to the sounds, excitement and vitality of great jazz. Held in various venues around the island, enjoy everything from a Jazz & Wine Tasting to a Dixie to Swing Jazz Brunch. We’ve got you covered regardless of your musical appetite!
October. ZOOMA Amelia Island is the most popular race in the ZOOMA Women’s Race series and has been voted a Top 20 Half Marathon by BibRave for five years in a row! It includes including two days of running, an expo, post-race party and sunrise yoga on the oceanfront lawn of the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island. Pamper yourself after the race with mimosas, food, massage, yoga, shopping, and music!
October. Go back to your childhood at the Northeast Florida Fair, held just a hop, skip and a jump away in Callahan, Florida. Enjoy thrill rides, games, candied apples, cotton candy, live music, hundreds of livestock entrants, and all the things that go along with a small town fair.
November. The Right Whale Festival celebrates the annual return of endangered North Atlantic right whales to our warm coastal waters. With as few as 450 remaining, this family-fun event raises awareness of the threats to right whales and how we can help in their recovery. The festival highlights ocean-themed activities and exhibits that emphasize education and environmentally responsible adventures and products.
